The school where I go to is Welbeck Primary. It's about a 15 minute walk from where I am staying. The people are all very nice and helpfull over there. They seem excited to have Dutch students. The first thing that really stands out when I got in the school is that there is childrens work every where you look and in the class rooms all the work is presented in a display.
The children of year 5 have writen their targets for the next period. All targets are gathered on a display of course. Here is a picture of the display and of one target separately. The school is very nice but everything they do is very different from what we are used to. There are no methods to be found in the class room, children work in exercise books and every thing they learn is either told by the teacher or given to them on a sheet. A lot of attention is given to reading (reading itself and understanding what you read, interpret what you read).
Due to the circumstances in which most children of this neighbourhood live, there is a breakfastclub and hot meals are surved in the afternoon. In order to get these meals only little has to be payed. I don't know for sure how much or how many children will get it for free.

Hello Wilma,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYour stories about the town, the forrest and the mill, are a pleasure too read. So too hear, you have lost of fun over there. What is funny, last week I have been to a mill to. We went to see the mill, also from the inside. When I watched the pictures of de mill, it looked like the one in Zeddam. I'm waiting for you next stories in Nothingham. If you see it, it's maybee nice to go and have a look for your self.
