Together with Ilan, Marcel and I went to the Heights of Abraham. This is in Matlock Bath, about 1 hour by train. The closer we got there, the more hills we saw. It is a beautiful countrysite. When we arrived we took the cable cars up to the caverns and the hilltop park. There was a tower which we climbed to have a great view. We had a guided underground tour in the masson cavern. This is a leadmine that is open for public. You get a great impression how it would be like as a miner in the old days, only having a candle to see were they where and what they did.
The view and the tour were the best things there I think. At the fossil factory there was a interesting fossil of a giant Ichthyosaur, but that was about it. I can imagine that it is quite interesting for children though, if they have never seen things like this.
After seeing everything we wanted to see, we went back to the town. It is streched along a riversite. A variation of little shops and gambling places. It was a lot of fun to see all this, but we were also happy to be back in the train going home.
Back in Nottingham we had a drink in Fellows, Morton and Clayton. A nice cold cider this time to review our day.
